Meet the cast of characters
Professor Willoughby was a great Australian inventor and visionary, but his name has been all-but-lost to time.
In 'The Robot Paper' (1955), Profeessor Willoughby wrote, 'It is my hope that, one day, human beings and robots will stand side by side in cooperation and friendship.'
With the release of this book, we - and the robots - would like to see the Professor's position as Australia’s true robotics pioneer finally restored.
Miboi spent a long time as Professor Willoughby's assistant. Some of the Professor's genius appears to have rubbed off.
Roobot is clumsy but well-meaning. He always seems to get himself (and others) into trouble.
Birdbot is a robot of vision. With her can-do attitude, she is always ready to swoop into action.
Picasso was built to resemble a wonderful artwork in one of the Professor’s books. His favourite pastime is taking apart old machines and putting them back together so that they work ‘better’.
Teapot, named for her shiny spout, is the worrier of the group. She will always keep the others safe.
Zippy is the youngest of all the robots. With her exuberance, she runs rings around the others.
